Abstract
Background. Digital learning media is increasingly important in higher education, but its effectiveness depends not only on visual appeal and interactivity, but also on its ability to strengthen students’ intrinsic motivation and value-oriented learning.
Purpose. This study aims to develop a Canva-based interactive learning media that integrates “Moral Will” and test its validity, practicality, and effectiveness in increasing learning motivation among Islamic Religious Education students.
Method. This study used a Research and Development design with the ADDIE model. Participants consisted of 32 students from one class at a higher education institution in West Sumatra. Data were collected through needs analysis, expert validation, student response questionnaires, and an ARCS-based learning motivation questionnaire.
Novelty. This study introduces “Moral Will” as a pedagogical design element embedded in digital learning through activities that involve choice, commitment, responsibility, reflection, and perseverance, rather than treating morality solely as a learning outcome.
Results. Material and media validation reached 90.40% and 89.20%, respectively, with Aiken’s V-values of 0.88 and 0.86, respectively. Practicality reached 88.75%. Student motivation increased from 68.44 to 84.72, with an increase in N of 0.52.
Conclusion. Integrating Moral Will into Canva-based interactive media offers a promising approach to developing engaging, value-oriented, and motivating learning experiences in Islamic Religious Education.
