Focus and Scope

Focus and Research Design

Ethical Media Architecture and Educational Technology (EMAET) exclusively publishes empirical research and development studies that produce educational media, instructional models, digital applications, learning platforms, teaching materials, assessment instruments, intelligent learning systems, or other technology-based educational products. Every developed product must substantially integrate ethical, moral, or religious values into its content, design, features, learning activities, user interactions, or intended learning outcomes.

Accepted Research

Manuscripts must employ a recognized research and development model, such as ADDIE, 4D, Borg and Gall, Design-Based Research, Design and Development Research, or another clearly justified development framework.

The study must report the development process and provide empirical evidence concerning product validity, practicality, usability, or effectiveness according to the completed development stage.

Research Not Accepted

EMAET does not accept manuscripts that do not involve the systematic development of an educational product. The following research designs are outside the journal’s scope:

  • pure experimental or quasi-experimental studies that only test an existing method, medium, model, application, or technology;
  • literature reviews, narrative reviews, systematic literature reviews, scoping reviews, meta-analyses, and bibliometric studies;
  • surveys, correlational studies, causal-comparative studies, regression studies, and structural equation modelling studies;
  • case studies, phenomenological studies, ethnographic studies, grounded theory studies, and other purely qualitative designs;
  • classroom action research, program evaluation, policy analysis, conceptual papers, and theoretical papers; and
  • product-development studies that do not substantially integrate ethical, moral, or religious values.
Important Distinction

Experimental testing may be included only when it forms part of a systematic product-development process and is used to evaluate the effectiveness of the newly developed product. A stand-alone experiment without educational product development will be rejected.

Manuscripts that do not clearly present a development model, systematic development stages, a tangible educational product, substantive value integration, and empirical product evaluation may be rejected during initial editorial screening without being sent for peer review.
