NexaAssist Journal of Inclusive Technology (NAJIT) is committed to the long-term preservation, accessibility, authenticity, and integrity of its published scholarly content. The journal recognizes that sustained access to research in assistive technology, digital accessibility, and inclusive educational technology is essential for advancing scientific knowledge, technological innovation, and disability inclusion.
NAJIT supports the development of reliable digital preservation mechanisms through its publishing platform, Open Journal Systems (OJS). The journal recognizes distributed preservation services, including LOCKSS and CLOCKSS, as potential mechanisms for long-term scholarly archiving, subject to their respective eligibility requirements, formal participation, and technical configuration.
LOCKSS, or Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe, is a distributed digital preservation system that enables participating libraries to collect, store, and preserve authorized copies of scholarly content. Its preservation architecture is based on maintaining multiple copies across participating institutions, allowing preserved materials to be checked and repaired when files become damaged, corrupted, altered, or unavailable from their original source.
CLOCKSS, or Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe, is a distributed digital preservation archive based on LOCKSS technology. It is designed to protect scholarly publications through a network of participating institutions and to provide open access to archived content when an officially recognized trigger event occurs, such as the permanent unavailability of the original publication.
NAJIT aims to preserve its scholarly record, including published articles, issue information, article metadata, supplementary research materials, and associated publication records. The journal supports preservation practices that facilitate reliable retrieval, long-term accessibility, and continuity of its digital publications.
Depending on institutional resources and technical availability, preservation procedures may include regular database and file backups, secure server management, metadata retention, file-format maintenance, repository deposit, and participation in recognized digital preservation networks.
In alignment with its mission, NAJIT recognizes that digital preservation should support not only long-term storage but also the continued usability and accessibility of scholarly materials. Where technically feasible, the journal encourages the preservation of accessible publication formats, descriptive metadata, and supporting resources that facilitate access by persons with disabilities.
Publication of this policy does not indicate that NAJIT content is currently preserved in the LOCKSS or CLOCKSS networks. Participation in these services requires appropriate eligibility, authorization, technical configuration, and confirmation by the relevant preservation organization. The journal will identify specific preservation services as active only after their implementation has been verified.
NexaAssist Journal of Inclusive Technology (NAJIT) is committed to protecting the accessibility, authenticity, integrity, and continuity of its published scholarly record. The journal will update this policy when formal digital preservation arrangements or participation in recognized preservation networks have been established and verified.
