Focus and Research Scope

Islamic Moral Architecture in Primary Education (IMAPE) publishes original empirical research examining pedagogical, curricular, technological, social, and institutional approaches to the development of Islamic morality, religious awareness, character, and ethical formation in primary education.

Thematic Focus
• Islamic character and moral education
• Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah-based pedagogy
• Spiritual and religious development
• Moral and religious literacy
• Islamic moral assessment
• Child-responsive educational technology
• Neuro-pedagogy and moral development
• School culture and teacher practices
• Family and community engagement
• Primary Islamic educational environments
Accepted Research

Manuscripts must report original empirical data collected within primary schools, madrasah ibtidaiyah, or equivalent primary educational settings.

Appropriate designs may include quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, experimental or quasi-experimental, correlational, survey-based, classroom-based, case-study, phenomenological, ethnographic, or other primary empirical approaches, provided that the research directly addresses the scope of IMAPE.

Empirical Requirement

Every manuscript must present a clearly defined research problem, an appropriate empirical methodology, original data, systematic analysis, and findings that contribute directly to understanding Islamic moral or religious development in primary education.

Research Not Accepted

The following types of manuscripts are outside the scope of IMAPE:

• Research and development (R&D) studies
• Literature and narrative reviews
• Systematic literature reviews
• Scoping reviews
• Meta-analyses
• Bibliometric analyses
• Conceptual or theoretical papers without original data
• Other forms of secondary research
Important Distinction

Educational technology studies are welcomed when they investigate children's moral learning, religious awareness, classroom practices, technology-mediated interaction, or educational outcomes using original empirical data. Studies whose primary purpose is to develop and validate a new product through an R&D model are outside the journal's scope.

Educational Setting

The primary context of the research must be primary or elementary education , including elementary schools, madrasah ibtidaiyah, and comparable primary educational environments. Studies centred exclusively on secondary schools, universities, or adult education should demonstrate a direct and substantive relevance to primary education to be considered.

Editorial Screening

Manuscripts may be rejected during initial editorial screening when they do not contain original empirical data, fall outside primary education, lack a substantive connection to Islamic morality or religious awareness, employ a research-and-development design, constitute secondary research, or otherwise fall outside the stated focus and scope of IMAPE.
