Islamic Moral Architecture in Primary Education (IMAPE) applies a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other. Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial editorial screening are normally evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with relevant academic and methodological expertise.
Peer review evaluates originality, methodological rigor, ethical integrity, quality of empirical evidence, relevance to primary education, contribution to Islamic morality or religious awareness, and overall scholarly significance.
The corresponding author submits the manuscript through the IMAPE online submission system using Open Journal Systems (OJS). Authors must complete the required metadata and prepare the manuscript according to the journal template and Author Guidelines.
The editorial office assesses compliance with the journal's focus and scope, manuscript structure, formatting requirements, publication ethics, originality, and minimum scholarly quality.
Particular attention is given to whether the manuscript presents original empirical research conducted in primary education and makes a substantive contribution to Islamic morality, religious awareness, character development, or another area within the scope of IMAPE. Manuscripts may also undergo similarity screening.
The Editor-in-Chief or designated handling editor evaluates the manuscript's originality, methodological adequacy, empirical contribution, ethical compliance, scholarly significance, and relevance to IMAPE readers. Manuscripts that are clearly outside the journal's scope or fail to meet minimum academic standards may be declined without external review.
At least two reviewers are normally selected according to their expertise in the manuscript's subject, research methodology, primary education, Islamic education, moral development, or other relevant scholarly areas. Reviewers must disclose any potential conflict of interest before accepting the assignment.
Invited reviewers consider their expertise, availability, confidentiality obligations, and potential conflicts of interest. They may accept or decline the invitation. Review assignments are made solely on the basis of scholarly suitability and editorial requirements.
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts objectively, confidentially, critically, and constructively. The review considers:

The handling editor evaluates the reviewer reports, the strength of their arguments, and the consistency of their recommendations. When reports differ substantially or further expertise is required, an additional independent reviewer may be invited.
The corresponding author receives the editorial decision through OJS together with anonymized reviewer comments and, where appropriate, additional editorial instructions. The Editor-in-Chief retains responsibility for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection.
Authors receiving a revision decision must submit a revised manuscript together with a clear response explaining how reviewer and editorial comments have been addressed. Major revisions may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation.
A manuscript is accepted only after the editorial team confirms that the required scholarly, methodological, ethical, and technical revisions have been satisfactorily completed.
Accepted manuscripts proceed through copyediting, layout, proofreading, and online publication. Published articles are made openly accessible to readers.
IMAPE accepts high-quality primary research based on original empirical data. Research and development studies, literature reviews, systematic or scoping reviews, meta-analyses, bibliometric studies, conceptual papers without original empirical data, and other forms of secondary research are outside the journal's stated scope.
IMAPE provides free publication without Article Processing Charges (APC) while maintaining rigorous editorial and peer-review standards. Publication decisions are based solely on scholarly quality, originality, methodological soundness, ethical integrity, and alignment with the journal's focus and scope. The absence of publication fees does not influence editorial decisions or lower academic standards.
