Instructional Design and Ethical Pedagogy (IDEP) maintains a clear separation between advertising activities and editorial decision-making. Any advertisement displayed through the journal or publisher’s official platform must be accurate, lawful, professionally appropriate, and clearly distinguishable from scholarly and editorial content.
Advertising relationships must not influence manuscript selection, peer review, editorial decisions, publication priority, research interpretation, or the presentation of scholarly findings.
Editorial decisions in IDEP are based exclusively on scholarly merit, originality, methodological rigor, research integrity, relevance to the journal’s scope, and the outcomes of editorial and peer review. Advertisers, sponsors, commercial partners, or other external parties have no authority over manuscript acceptance, rejection, reviewer selection, editorial evaluation, correction, or retraction.
Advertising or sponsored promotional material must be clearly identifiable as such and must not be designed or presented in a way that could reasonably cause readers to mistake it for an editorial, research article, peer-reviewed content, journal recommendation, or independent scholarly endorsement.
Where advertising is accepted, IDEP may consider professionally appropriate advertisements relevant to scholarly, educational, or research communities, such as:
- academic conferences, seminars, workshops, and scholarly meetings;
- higher education and research programs;
- academic books, scholarly publications, and educational resources;
- research tools, academic services, or educational technologies relevant to the journal’s readership;
- professional development opportunities for lecturers, researchers, and higher education professionals; and
- other scholarly activities considered consistent with the journal’s academic mission.
IDEP reserves the right to reject or remove advertising that:
- contains false, misleading, deceptive, unverifiable, or materially exaggerated claims;
- misrepresents academic qualifications, indexing status, rankings, accreditation, citation metrics, or institutional recognition;
- promotes academic misconduct, contract cheating, fabricated research, predatory publishing practices, or unethical academic services;
- discriminates against individuals or groups or contains defamatory, abusive, or inappropriate material;
- violates applicable law, copyright, privacy, intellectual-property rights, or professional standards;
- creates a misleading impression of endorsement by IDEP, its editors, reviewers, publisher, or affiliated institutions;
- could reasonably undermine the academic integrity, independence, reputation, or scholarly mission of the journal; or
- is otherwise inconsistent with the ethical and educational values represented by IDEP.
The appearance of an advertisement on an IDEP or publisher platform does not constitute endorsement, certification, recommendation, or guarantee by the journal, Editorial Team, reviewers, or publisher regarding the advertised product, institution, event, service, or claim.
Advertising must be visually and contextually separated from peer-reviewed articles, editorial decisions, reviewer reports, research data, and other scholarly content. Advertising placement must not interfere with the interpretation, accessibility, or integrity of published research.
Advertising may be selected according to its relevance to the journal’s general academic readership. Advertising decisions must not be based on confidential information obtained from manuscript submissions, peer-review activities, author correspondence, or unpublished research.
Personal information obtained through journal registration, manuscript submission, peer review, or editorial communication must not be sold or disclosed to advertisers for unrelated commercial marketing. Any use of website data for advertising purposes must comply with applicable privacy requirements and the journal’s privacy policy.
If IDEP publishes or displays sponsored promotional material, the sponsorship relationship must be clearly disclosed. Sponsored material must not be represented as independently peer-reviewed scholarly content unless it has undergone the journal’s full editorial and peer-review procedures under the same standards applied to other manuscripts.
IDEP and its publisher retain the right to refuse, discontinue, or remove advertising when the material is inconsistent with this policy, becomes inaccurate or misleading, presents an ethical or legal concern, or may reasonably damage the independence or integrity of the journal.
IDEP maintains the principle that advertising and commercial considerations must remain independent of scholarly and editorial judgment. Any advertising associated with the journal must preserve transparency, reader trust, academic integrity, and the independence of the publication process.
