Instructional Design and Ethical Pedagogy (IDEP) welcomes qualified academics and researchers who are willing to contribute as peer reviewers. Reviewers play an essential role in maintaining the scholarly quality, methodological rigor, ethical integrity, and relevance of articles published by the journal.
Because IDEP has a highly focused editorial scope, prospective reviewers should have demonstrable expertise in instructional design in higher education and scholarly competence related to ethics, morality, character formation, and religious values in teaching and learning.
Preferred Areas of Expertise
Instructional Design
Design, implementation, and evaluation of instructional and learning experiences in higher education.
Ethics in Education
Ethical principles, academic integrity, fairness, responsibility, dignity, and ethical decision-making in university teaching.
Moral & Character Education
Moral reasoning, character formation, integrity, responsibility, empathy, and value-oriented learning.
Religious Values
Integration of religious, spiritual, and faith-based values within instructional design and higher education pedagogy.
Digital & AI-Supported Learning
Ethical and value-integrated instructional design involving digital learning, artificial intelligence, and emerging educational technologies.
Higher Education Pedagogy
University teaching, course design, pedagogical intervention, assessment, and student learning in tertiary education.
Reviewer Eligibility
Prospective reviewers are expected to meet the following criteria:
- hold a doctoral degree or demonstrate equivalent scholarly expertise in a field relevant to the journal;
- have an active academic or research affiliation with a recognized higher education or research institution;
- possess research expertise relevant to instructional design in higher education;
- demonstrate scholarly engagement with ethical, moral, character, and/or religious dimensions of education;
- have published scholarly work in peer-reviewed academic journals;
- be able to provide objective, constructive, evidence-based, and confidential reviews;
- have no conflict of interest with the manuscript, authors, or institutions involved in the assigned review.
Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers are expected to:
- evaluate whether the manuscript is genuinely focused on instructional design in higher education;
- assess whether ethics, morality, character, and religious values are substantively integrated into the instructional design;
- evaluate the originality, methodological rigor, validity of findings, and scholarly contribution of the primary empirical research;
- provide clear, respectful, constructive, and evidence-based recommendations to authors;
- maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and review materials;
- declare any potential conflict of interest before accepting a review assignment.

How to Volunteer
Researchers interested in serving as reviewers should create or update their account on the IDEP journal platform and ensure that their reviewing interests and areas of expertise are clearly stated in their profile. Registration as a reviewer constitutes an expression of interest and does not automatically guarantee assignment of manuscripts. Reviewer selection is determined by the Editorial Team based on subject expertise, publication record, manuscript relevance, availability, and the absence of conflicts of interest.
Review Ethics
All reviewers are expected to uphold confidentiality, impartiality, scholarly integrity, transparency regarding conflicts of interest, and respect for authors. Manuscript information, unpublished data, arguments, or findings obtained through the review process must not be used for personal or professional advantage.
Reviewer Selection
Reviewer appointments and manuscript assignments remain at the discretion of the IDEP Editorial Team and are based primarily on the match between reviewer expertise and manuscript content.
